Message from Mrs. Hayes, Mill Road Primary PrincipalWelcome to the Mill Road Primary School! As our students begin their educational journey, it is our goal that we give each child the best possible start. Primary education uses a developmental framework, which allows students to enhance their current skills while building new ones. With a critical emphasis on a foundation in literacy, our curriculum explores all of the content areas by implementing a balanced instructional approach. The K-2 years are not only a time of acquiring academic skills, but also a time of creativity, building social and emotional skills and exploring the wonder of our world.
Red Hook continually exhibits an excellence in teaching and learning. Our staff members are among the most dedicated experts in education. It is my honor and pleasure to partner with them as we continually strive to meet the highest standards for our students. Our responsibility is to create a nurturing, safe, enriching environment that challenges students while making learning fun. Each child here is unique, with special talents and gifts to be celebrated and encouraged. I am fortunate to be a part of their journey.
The parent, community and school connections are essential to the success of all of our students. I look forward to continuing to build these partnerships. When you have an occasion to be in the building, I invite you to stop in and visit.Best,Erin Hayes, PrincipalPlease visit the Mill Road PTA web site at http://www.millroadpta.org for information about meetings and special events.
NYSED Parent Dashboard Website
The Parent Dashboard is a user-friendly website created by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) to increase transparency and make it easier for parents to find essential information about the schools their children attend. The purpose of the dashboard is to make school data, such as performance indicators and general enrollment details, easy to find and understand. Statistics such as enrollment numbers, average class size, test scores, graduation rates, school climate, demographics, and accountability designations will afford parents a transparent account of all New York State public schools. Designed with input from parents and other stakeholders, the dashboard provides information that is both illustrative and useful and serves the unique needs of parents and the public of New York State.
Elementary Bus Transportation - Change in Procedure
The district will continue to offer parents the option to have their child(ren) transported to other established bus stops in the afternoon for certain activities (e.g., playdates, babysitters, etc.). We will, however, be implementing one important process change for the coming school year:
Parents must submit, in writing, bus change requests in the morning before 10 a.m. We will no longer be taking verbal requests for bus changes over the phone. Last minute verbal requests create two problems (i.e. verifying the identity of the caller(s) and increasing the probability of transportation errors).
While Red Hook CSD continues to be relatively unique among school districts in honoring a variety of transportation changes, parents should limit the number of changes. As the number of changes increase, so too does the possibility of error.
Safe Arrival - Absence Reporting System
Safe Arrival is Red Hook’s newest way for parents/guardians to report student absences. It replaces having to submit handwritten notes or contact your child’s school attendance clerk. It is a one-stop method for you to report multiple day absences for your student(s) and report multiple students absent regardless of the building(s) they attend. Click the link below to learn more about Safe Arrival.
From time to time, members of our community wish to donate items for our students.
