Mill Road K-2 Gets Behind Picture Books!
The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art has launched a social media campaign asking readers to share their favorite illustrated books, using the hashtag #GetBehindPictureBooks. Authors, illustrators, teachers, librarians and, as you can see from our photo, LOTS of students have posted photos of themselves peeking out from behind favorite picture books! @carlemuseum.
Message from the Principal
Welcome to the Mill Road Primary School! As our students begin their educational journey, it is our goal that we give each child the best possible start. Primary education uses a developmental framework, which allows students to enhance their current skills while building new ones. With a critical emphasis on a foundation in literacy, our curriculum explores all of the content areas by implementing a balanced instructional approach. The K-2 years are not only a time of acquiring academic skills, but also a time of creativity, building social and emotional skills and exploring the wonder of our world.
Red Hook continually exhibits an excellence in teaching and learning. Our staff members are among the most dedicated experts in education. It is my honor and pleasure to partner with them as we continually strive to meet the highest standards for our students. Our responsibility is to create a nurturing, safe, enriching environment that challenges students while making learning fun. Each child here is unique, with special talents and gifts to be celebrated and encouraged. I am fortunate to be a part of their journey.
The parent, community and school connections are essential to the success of all of our students. I look forward to continuing to build these partnerships. When you have an occasion to be in the building, I invite you to stop in and visit.
Erin Hayes, Principal
