How to succeed in math class
- Quiz and test questions come from previous classwork or homework.
- Encourage your child to redo past work as a means of studying.
- Students should pay attention to homework correction in class and ask questions when they are unsure.
- “Practice makes perfect” is all too true for math—students learn math by doing math, so encourage your child to try incorrect problems on graded work again.
- Ask your child to teach you a new concept or explain how to do a homework problem.
- Review examples from class work if the student doesn’t understand the homework assignment.
- Study for tests and quizzes by making up a practice exam of past homework problems.
- Encourage your child to make up missed work as soon as possible.
- Only use a calculator to check.
