• How to succeed in math class

    • Quiz and test questions come from previous classwork or homework.
    • Encourage your child to redo past work as a means of studying.
    • Students should pay attention to homework correction in class and ask questions when they are unsure.
    • “Practice makes perfect” is all too true for math—students learn math by doing math, so encourage your child to try incorrect problems on graded work again.
    • Ask your child to teach you a new concept or explain how to do a homework problem.
    • Review examples from class work if the student doesn’t understand the homework assignment.
    • Study for tests and quizzes by making up a practice exam of past homework problems.
    • Encourage your child to make up missed work as soon as possible.
    • Only use a calculator to check.
