• Help During Difficult Times

     

    Listed below are the links to three programs in Dutchess County that can help during difficult economic times.  Please read the brief overview and click the link for more information.  If you need further assistance or would like to share information with your child’s guidance counselor, please call.
     
    Red Hook Responds coordinates, enhances and supports the existing and new volunteer efforts in the Red Hook area. Red Hook Eats is a sub-committee of Red Hook Responds which will focus on helping with preparation of food and delivery to homebound and ill during a crisis. Red Hook Responds works in collaboration with elected officials in the Town and Village of Red Hook and the Village of Tivoli.
     
    GovBenefits.gov is the official benefits website of the U.S. Government.  The easy-to-use website provides access and information to more than 1,000 benefit and assistance programs including Education Related Programs, Tax Assistance, Job Training, Food and Nutrition, Housing, Education and Disaster Relief, among others.  The website has an easy-to-use questionnaire that can match you to assistance programs.
     
    The McKinney-Vento Act is a federal law that entitles children to a free, appropriate public education, and requires schools to remove barriers to their enrollment, attendance, and success in school. The purpose of the McKinney-Vento Act is to promote school continuity for children who are experiencing instability with their housing. (M-V Section 721).  Students who meet the criteria are entitled to free meals at school (breakfast & lunch) provided by the school district, transportation to and from school and their transitional housing and free enrollment in summer school for students required to attend.
     

    Hudson Valley 2-1-1 is the abbreviated dialing code for free access to health and human services information and referral. 2-1-1 makes it possible for people to more successfully navigate the complex and ever-growing maze of human service agencies and programs. 2-1-1 provides callers with information about, and referrals to, health and human services for every day needs, and in times of crisis.
