Welcome to AIS Reading! My name is Stephanie Comerford, and I am excited to be working with your child this year. I am originally from Long Island, received a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh, and my master’s in education from the State University of New York at Albany. I am certified in Elementary Education N-6 and Developmental Reading K-12. I have been a teacher at Mill Road Intermediate School since 1993. I taught fifth grade for seven years and fourth grade for six years. This is my sixteenth year as a Reading Specialist.

I am passionate about teaching reading and writing. Guiding children in all areas of their reading and writing development is both challenging yet rewarding.  I strive to create a community of learners that nurtures growth in a safe and positive learning environment. 

On a personal level, I have been married for 28 years. I have two adult children and a fourteen-year-old Wheaton Terrier named Toryn. I enjoy reading, hiking, cross country skiing, relaxing at the beach, baking, and spending time with my family and friends.
