Welcome to Coach Murray's webpage!
Hello, my name is Barb Murray and I am a Physical Education and IB Sports Exercise and Health Science Teacher at Red Hook High School. I am a Red Hook alumni, and a graduate from SUNY Cortland with a B.S. in Physical Education with minors in Sports Management, Adult Fitness and Coaching. I worked in the field of Corporate Fitness as an Exercise Physiologist for fourteen years, during which time I earned my Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology and Cardiac Rehabilitation from Adelphi University. I again returned to Adelphi and earned my NYS Teacher Certification in Physical Education. I have been certified by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) since 1990 as a Certified Exercise Physiologist and worked as an examiner for ACSM for over ten years.
I am happy to be teaching for my seventeenth year at the high school and twenty-second year within the district. I teach grades 9-12 High School Physical Education and this is the ninth year I am teaching an IB Sports, Exercise and Health Science course. After school, I enjoy supervising the RHHS Wellness Center a couple days a week and many times you will see me chaperoning events for the high school students and athletic teams. I have coached for many years in my career at Red Hook for Tennis, Softball and Track Teams. I am proud to be working with such a great P.E. Department and look forward to a great year.
I enjoy helping out at various community programs, fundraising benefits & organizations, such as Red Hook Chamber of Commerce, the Dutchess County Fair and St. Christopher's Parish. The rest of my time is spent with my family.
If you need to contact me at anytime, please email me at bmurray@rhcsd.org and I will get back to you usually within 24 hours or sooner. Email is my preferred way of communication. The phone system takes a little longer, but you can use it as well. My number is 845-758-2241, ext. 71245.
This year we will post our PE Curriculum on the same platform we used last year- Microsoft Teams. The chat feature is the best way for students to communicate with me and I ask that they always list their PE class period and day number when they send a chat message to me. If you are an IB SEHS student, please visit the Microsoft Teams Class Notebook for this year's class.
I am really looking forward to seeing all the students back in school and looking forward to a great year ahead! I sincerely love teaching Physical Education and will do my best to make it a great year for all the students!
Thank you.
