About our school and students: Red Hook High School is a comprehensive high school serving over 700 students in grades 9 - 12. Over 80 percent of our graduates go on to two or four-year colleges. Seniors are regularly admitted to a wide range of colleges and universities. In recent years, these have included Yale, MIT, Princeton, Cornell, Swarthmore, Smith, Colby, Connecticut College, Hamilton, Bard, Boston University and other selective private colleges; many SUNY schools, and local community colleges.Students are grouped in Regents and Honors classes in English, social studies, math, and science. The high school offers Advanced Placement courses in English Literature, U.S. History, Art History, Studio Art, Chemistry, and Calculus. We offer instruction in three foreign languages: Spanish, German, and French. Students also take courses in Health Education, Home Economics, Music, Physical Education, and Technology.Experiences designed to develop students’ information literacy using both traditional methods and new technology are integrated within the curriculum. Nearly 10 percent of our students take vocational classes at the BOCES Tech Center in Salt Point.Red Hook competes in the Mid Hudson Athletic League and Section 9. We have interscholastic teams in field hockey, football, volleyball, lacrosse, cross-country, golf, basketball, tennis, baseball, softball, track and field, wrestling, and soccer. A wide variety of non-athletic extracurricular activities are also available including yearbook, school newspaper, mock trial, drama club, international club, environmental conservation, and more.
