Hello and welcome to my Web Page!

My name is Ana O’Keefe and I'm teaching 7^th and 8^th grade Art, and 6^th grade Home & Career Skills. I am also the 6^th Grade Art Club advisor. I am new to Linden Ave. Middle School this 2023-24 school year, though I have 12+ years of experience teaching art and collaborating with arts organizations in New York City, Austin, Texas, Honduras, and Guatemala. I live in Kingston, NY with my husband, two sons ages 4 and 1, and our giant dog, Bowie. I am a painter and muralist with a passion for community-arts practice and social activism. I am looking forward to creating amazing things with the wonderful students at LAMS!

Course Descriptions: 

7th & 8th Grade Art

We will be creating 2D & 3D works in a variety of media using diverse techniques of art production. Students will complete projects designed to explore the process of art making while developing skills in drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, and design. There will be more independent choice and self-directed projects at the 8th grade level. Materials are provided, but I do appreciate donations of recycled materials, specifically empty yogurt containers (any size), paper towel & toilet paper rolls, cereal and shoe boxes.

Home & Career Skills

This is a course designed to teach everyday living skills. The goal is to prepare you to meet your present and future responsibilities and develop skills for you to think constructively, make sound decisions, solve problems, and manage resources. Through interactive, hands-on activities, we will explore topics like child development, nutrition and wellness, personal environment management, sustainability, careers & financial planning. The Home and Career Skills class is unique to your overall middle school education, as it provides support to your academic areas and real-world experiences by preparing you to participate effectively in family, community, school and future workplace settings.
