7th Annual Senior Citizen Social Features Fairy Tale Theme

The Red Hook Central School District welcomed more than 75 local senior citizens to its Annual Senior Spring Social in March. The Red Hook High School cafeteria was decorated by staff, students and volunteers in keeping with this year’s fairy tales’ theme for the event.

Since its inception, the senior social is held on the same afternoon/early evening as the dress rehearsal for the annual high school musical. This year’s production of “Into the Woods” lent itself nicely to a theme-inspired menu prepared by RHCSD Director of Food Services Larry Anthony and his staff which featured Peter Rabbit’s Glazed Carrots, Chicken Little’s Sky High Roast Chicken, Jack and the Beanstalk Three Bean Salad, and Snow White’s Apple Pie ala Mode.

Underwritten by local medical practice Hudson ENT, the event is also supported by the faculty and administrative bargaining unit members as well as district office personnel who all serve as greeters, servers, and gofers during the meal.

In addition to door prizes and trivia contest giveaways, each guest receives a custom-made name tag designed and created by Board of Education President Johanna Moore. Many of our seniors share they that keep each year’s name tag as mementos of the event. Thank you to everyone who makes this such a special occasion.
