New principal appointed

Kyle Roddey, RHHS principalKyle Roddey is Red Hook High School’s new principal following a rigorous candidate search and interview process by the district that included faculty, community members, students, parents and administrative staff. 

The Red Hook Board of Education appointed Roddey Wednesday night, Jan. 18, and he will begin his duties at the end of February. 

“I am thankful to the district for giving me this exciting opportunity to lead Red Hook High School,” Roddey said. “I look forward to working with the full school community to help all students succeed in reaching the ideals of the Raider Profile.” 

Roddey is the principal of Fallsburg Junior Senior High School and has worked previously as a social studies teacher, Dean of Students, and assistant principal in school districts located in Orange County, NY. He also served as the Mayor of the Village of Goshen for seven years beginning in 2011. He expects to complete his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Seton Hall University in June 2023. 

“One of my core beliefs is that our students are coming of age in a rapidly evolving world. It is our role as educators to help them build the soft skills needed to be able to succeed despite ongoing uncertainty,” Roddey said. “Collaboration, critical thinking, and creative problem solving must be developed in our schools simultaneously while we help students master academic content.”  

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Janet Warden stated, “We are excited to welcome Mr. Roddey to the Red Hook Raiders family at the high school. His presence will bring a great deal of experience and knowledge to our District.”  

Roddey and his family live in Hurley, NY.
