A chef smiles as he prepares food in a commercial kitchen.

Welcome to the food services department!

For any questions about the school lunch program, please reach out to us at schoolmeals@rhcsd.org or call us at 758-2241 ex 38010.

The Food Services Department continues to be committed to providing your child with safe and nutritious meals.

To ensure everyone’s safety, we follow all CDC, SED and Department of Health safety measures for food handling by practicing glove usage, washing, rinsing and sanitizing all kitchen equipment, counter tops and utensils.

  • We no longer have the cash-for-tickets system in place at Red Hook Central School District. It has been replaced by a new Point of Sale System (POS).

  • Each student in school has a student ID# which we use to link your payments to your child's lunch account. Pre-payments are credited to your child’s account.

  • Pre-payments can be made by check or cash. Checks are to be made out to RHCSD Cafeteria. Please include your student's ID number on the check. Please put the pre-payment in an envelope & seal it. On the outside of the envelope, write the student’s name, ID#, teacher’s name and grade level. Have your child bring the envelope to:

    • Mill Road Students: Give the envelope to your teacher. These envelopes will be sent to the cafeteria manager's office.

FAQs

  • There are five components that make up a full meal: Protein, grains such as rice, pasta or whole grain bread; vegetable, fruit and milk. We have an "Offer vs. Serve" program for K-12 students.

  • Offer vs. Serve means you are allowed three (3) components on your tray to be considered a Full Meal. Three of the five components must be either a fruit or a vegetable. A hamburger on a whole wheat roll is considered two components, protein and whole grain; a slice of whole wheat pizza is considered to be two components, once again the protein and whole grain.   If you are not that hungry, you can choose the slice of pizza and a fruit, vegetable or milk.  If you are very hungry, you can choose all five components offered. If you are a vegetarian and the entrée offered is meat based, you can choose the whole grain, vegetable, fruit, with or without milk to qualify as a full meal.

  • The state and federal government give us money to support your cafeteria program if full meals are purchased. This tells the state and federal government we are offering your student nutritious, well balanced meals. You are charged extra if you do not take the three (3) items because we are not holding up to our end of the bargain in the state's eyes of giving your student a nutritious, well balanced meal. We will not receive our federal and state aids which helps the district with our food services expenses… hence you are charged a la carte prices.
