RHCSD's CPSE
Children suspected of having a disability can be referred to a multidisciplinary team called the Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE). Every school district has a CPSE that decides if a child qualifies for special education services. The CPSE is responsible for children with disabilities ages 3-5. You know your child better than anyone else and you have valuable knowledge to bring to Committee discussions. Other members of the Committees are people who have a broad range of experiences planning for and/or working with students with disabilities. Together we will work to make sure that special education programs and services are provided to meet your child’s needs.
In order for your child to be referred to the CPSE, they first must be registered for school. This takes place at our district offices at Mill Road elementary school and requires the completion of the Registration Packet below. Once the child is registered, the referral can be made by submitting the CPSE referral form (also below) to the CPSE office. A brief description of the process and the referral form is also below.
