A Message from the Superintendent on our First Day

Dear Red Hook Families, 

I hope you and your children enjoyed a relaxing summer. As we begin the new school year, our buildings are once again filled with excitement, anticipation, and possibility. For some families, Wednesday marked the beginning of a first year of education, while for others it brings the milestones of a final year. Wherever your child is on their journey, we are honored to be part of it. 

This year, our district's focus is on innovation and creativity. We believe these qualities are not limited to a select few. Every student can think creatively, solve problems, generate new ideas, and make meaningful contributions to their classroom, school, and community. Our responsibility is to create learning experiences that unlock that potential. 

As we continue to deepen our work around the Raider Profile, we are also aligning with the New York State Portrait of a Graduate. Together, these frameworks emphasize the attributes our students need to thrive in an ever-changing world, being academically prepared, effective communicators, critical thinkers, creative innovators, global citizens, and reflective, future-focused learners.

In every classroom, students will be challenged to think deeply, collaborate with others, communicate effectively, and apply their learning in meaningful ways. We want our students to leave Red Hook not only with strong academic skills, but with confidence, adaptability, and creativity necessary for the future. 

I would also like to thank the many staff members who worked throughout the summer to prepare for the opening of school. Their dedication and hard work ensure that our students return to safe, and welcoming buildings where they can learn and grow. 

As we begin this new year together, I am filled with optimism and excitement for what lies ahead. Thank you for your continued partnership, trust, and support.
